F3 Phonics Coffee Morning

Throughout the first term of F3 we have been teaching your children the first stages of being able to read and write.  We do this during a lesson called Phonics.  Please come along to our F3 Phonics coffee morning next Wednesday where we will talk about how your child is learning to read and write.  We will also be telling you how you can help your child to read at home. This is a really valuable opportunity for you to understand how your child is learning.

We hope you can make it!

EYFS family morning

Dear Parents,

We hope by now that you have received a letter with details of this year’s EYFS family morning.  The children will be busy this week baking snacks to sell in preparation for the event!

Here are a few reminders of the event;

  • ·        Please return the slip on the letter you received last week stating that you are able to come to the morning and if you are bringing a friend.
  • ·        The morning runs from 8:30am – 11:00am.
  • ·        Tokens to purchase snacks on the day are currently for sale in the office from 2:30pm – 4:00pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for 10.000VND each.  All food and drink will be priced at 1 token and all money raised will be given to the ARC who are the EYFS community partner.  Additional tokens will be available to be purchased on the day.
  • ·        If you would like to help run an activity on the day such as, face painting, nail art, food stall or arts and craft then please let your class rep know and they can assign you to an activity.  You will only have to help at this activity for part of the morning so that you can still be free to enjoy the rest of the morning with your family.
  • ·        If you would like to donate any food for our bake sale then please let our class reps know what you will be bringing.  The food stall if for snacks so please bare this in mind when choosing your donation.

A big thank you in advance for any one that can support this event or donate food and a special thank you to our class reps for their help and organisation.
We hope to see you all on Saturday!

Many thanks

Ms Hayley and Mr John

Tea time for cloud X

While learning about the UK this week one thing the children learnt was that the English love a good cup of tea! Cloud X took on the biscuit dunking challenge while trying Ms Hayley's favorite hot drink.  Almost all the children enjoyed the taste of their tea dunked biscuits and many wanted a refil once their cup was empty.

Weekly Update

International Week

As you already know, next week is International week.  Across the school the children will be learning about different countries around the world.  F3 will be focusing on learning about the UK and exploring the differences between life there and life in Vietnam.

On Monday please dress the children in their national dress ready for the parade in the gym.  You are welcome to watch the parade with the rest of the school which will include a number of wonderful performances from the children and their parents.

On Wednesday the children will enjoy a national buffet for their lunch in the canteen.  Look out for pictures on next weeks blog!

Letter Formation

The children are continuing to learn how to form the letters of their name and the letters of the sounds they are learning correctly.  Below is a picture of a sound mat that we have in the classroom to support their writing development.  As you can see all of the letters have a picture that not only helps the children to identify the sound but also acts as a reminder of how to write the letter correctly.  In your child's home school dairy you will find a page that include the rhymes for each sound, explaining how to write it.  At the moment we are still focusing on writing lower case letters, except for the first letter of their name.   If you would like any more information about supporting you children with their writing at home then please feel free to speak to Ms Hayley or Mr John.

World Nursery Rhyme Week

This week the children have been celebrating 'World Nursery Rhyme Week'.  They are been drawing story maps of their favourite nursery rhymes and making up new ones of their own.  The children have also enjoyed watching video's of the EYFS children at BIS AP1 and BVIS singing nursery rhymes.  Ask your child to share their favourite rhyme with you at home, you could even challenge them to make up a new one of their own.

Thank you to all of the parents and carers who came to join us on Thursday afternoon.  The children loved showing you around their classroom and showing you some of the activities they did this week.
